The Macon County Youth Council (MCYC) is an inclusive youth-led organization composed of young people aged 13-35 in Macon County, Alabama who seek to engage in community development to elicit positive change within the county. The council is organized for the purposes of representing, researching, articulating, and developing initiatives to further the youth vision for Macon County. The council holds monthly meetings and attends city council, county commission, and district level meetings. The council also initiates quarterly community development projects. The council’s leadership serves as representatives for youth issues within their representative district and/or town.

OUR GOAL

Our goal is to convene Macon County’s youth to create a new unified vision for Macon County while exposing and educating the youth to the operations of local government in hopes that they will create a better city, county, state, and nation. #WinningTogether

OBJECTIVES

  • To determine and address the critical needs and concerns facing each city and/or township within Macon County

  • To facilitate workshops and learning opportunities for youth and the broader community

  • To execute projects that foster unity between different factions in Macon County. 

  • To provide youth representation for all decision-making bodies in Macon County.
